Tannin Brushed Landscape

90 x 90cm

Impasto, tea, recycled filter paper on canvas

Lateral exploration of recycled materials in my art practice has inspired the discovery of rich alternative to traditional mediums.

Like gradient lines on a map, the lineal layers of impasto form a textured base to break the expanse. The repeated layering of tannin soaked filter paper replicates the layering of earth over time.

Alter your perspective and the richness and depth mimics the aerial ‘birds eye view’ of vast dry landscapes or does the viewer see the systematic manmade outcomes of mining?
