Reclaimed tea leaves, tea bag filter paper on timber, Indian ink
So many single use items destined for landfill. Creating art from reclaimed tea bags started as a playful challenge, taking an ugly rubbish bin item and giving it new life.
Soggy tea bags were hung to dry before delicately extracting the tealeaves. The resulting tissue like membrane was flattened and individually hand-dyed. Layering the mini canvases to resemble the ombre Australian bush sunrise or sunset.
Looking through the strong silhouette image of century old gumtrees to distant mountains reflected on still water.
Inspired by our great land and the myriad of pristine places to pitch a tent.
